Mrs. Alicia Isabel Wong faced great adversity in her teens as a newcomer to this country. Adversity shaped her into the empathetic and driven teacher she is today. After she moved to the United States from Mexico with her mother and sister, she struggled against the new language barrier to earn the same high grades she used to earn. But her difficult experiences taught her empathy—her superpower as a teacher. She is dedicated to creating a nurturing and culturally sensitive learning environment where all students—especially those going through challenges similar to those she faced—can thrive and be prepared for further college and career success.
